Using maps, photographs, postcards, and other ephemera, Southard will speak to the early period of Euro-American settlement in the Salt River Valley

John Southard, an historian who holds an M.A. in History from Arizona State University, is the City of Tempe Historic Preservation Officer. He is currently a member of the Arizona Historic Sites Review Committee and sits on the Friends of Pueblo Grande Museum and the Heritage Square Foundation boards. He formerly chaired the City of Scottsdale Historic Preservation Commission and volunteered on the boards of the Arizona Historical Society – Central Arizona Chapter, Arizona History Convention, Inc., Arizona Preservation Foundation, and the Fund for Central Arizona History.
